Pakistani Star-Up Company Succeeded In Winning GIST 2019 Award

The GIST 2019 award Catalyst Competition Finalists have been announced. This time 4000 companies had sent applications from the world for the start-up award 2019, out of which 30 companies were shortlisted. From top 6 different categories only 5 companies were shortlisted from each category around the world, for the prize of more than $650,000 in entrepreneurial resources provided by Amazon Web Services, the Consumer Technology Association, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Philips, and Silicon Valley Bank, out of which only one start-up company ‘Spielbound’ was awarded.


The Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) award is given to the two new start-up companies annually in the ceremony and this time, Pakistani company was one of them which is selected for award. Syed Abrar, Founder of Azaad Health, a Pakistan based healthcare startup, has won the award for “Outstanding Entrepreneur from an Emerging Economy” at U.S. Department of State’s GIST Catalyst Competition 2019 hosted at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in The Hague, Netherlands, June 3-5.

Mr. Syed Abrar was one of the 30 finalists at the competition GIST 2019 Award, representing 18 different countries, competing in five categories of Food and Agriculture, Connectivity, Energy, Health, and Water. This platform aims to create awareness related to people in the world and provide support to those who are sometimes troubled during treatment.

This platform is just in the beginning, this platform was created in Karachi three years ago in Sindh, province of Karachi, and after that now it is considered for the World Award, that the platform is active in the help of people and will play the role. Azaad Health will be the first startup to represent Pakistan at the International Consumer Technology Association 2020.
