Pakistan Remains Loyal To A Peaceful And Stable Afghanistan

Peaceful, negotiated settlement only way forward for Afghanistan: FM Qureshi

PC Bhurban: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Federal Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan believes in peaceful and stable Afghanistan as the only way forward for Afghanistan, adding that there is no military solution to the Afghanistan issue. FM Qureshi welcomed the delegations at the first Afghan peace conference called ‘Lahore Process’ underway in Bhurban Murree. He added that it was incumbent upon the leadership of the two countries to take practical steps to build mutual trust and confidence.


In his opening speech, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is in the favor of peace process in Afghanistan for the stability of the region. The conference is being attended by some important figures such as Afghan High Peace Council chairman Karim Khalili and Uzbek leader Rashid Dostum.

At least fifty seven representatives among eighteen Afghan political parties between the attendees, including Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Atta Muhammad Nur, senators and members of the Afghan parliament.

This meeting holds importance as it has been taking place prior to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani visit to Pakistan. President Doctor Arif Alvi will host a dinner in the honor of Afghan members whereas they will also meet Prime Minister Imran Khan.
