In Budget 2019-20 Rs.12 Billion Allocated For Health Sector

The Federal Government has allocated Rs: 12 billion for the health sector in the Budget of 2019-20. Presenting the budget, Minister of Revenue Hammad Azhar said Health is provincial department, but the Federal Government is working closely with the provincial government to improve health sector, for development of health sector Federal Government allocating Rs: 12 billion in Budget 2019-20.

Minister said under the Health facility program the Government will provide health insurance facility and SEHAT CARD to poor and deserving people, from which they can get treatment facilities of 0.720 million annually from 270 selected hospitals.


Further, in the first phase, 3.2 million families are being provided healthcare insurance facility in 42 districts of Pakistan. In the next phase it will be extended to 15 million backward and extreme poor families, this program will be applied to all the districts including Tharparkar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa families.

It is remembered that the PML-N Government had announced Rs: 11 billion for the health sector last year. In last year Budget session Miftah Ismail, Federal Finance Minister stated that, the PML-N Government is providing 37 billion rupees for basic health.
