Federal Minister for Science and Technology and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azam Swati resigned from his post. According to the news, Federal Minister met Prime Minister Imran Khan and resigned on Thursday. During the meeting, Federal Minister Azam Swati said that he cannot continue his work in the present situation, so he is resigning from his position, fulfilling his moral responsibility.
In an interview last week with senior Journalists and Anchors Prime Minister Imran Khan said that if any of my ministers did not meet performance criteria I will change him. On the other hand, according to the spokesperson of Prime Minister, Azam Swati apologized to the Ministry till the decision was taken against him.
Now, I will contest the case without any position or authority filed against myself, said Azam Swati.
Federal Minister is currently facing a case in the Supreme Court over allegation that he had influenced the transfer of former Islamabad Inspector General of Police Jan Mohammad. Swati is the second member of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet to have tendered resignation.
Before that it was Babar Awan, who had to resign from the post of adviser to the premier on parliamentary affairs.
