On the request of Indian Government, Google and Apple removed video creating and sharing app TikTok from their stores. The Indian Government sent written order to Google and Apple two days ago to remove TiKTok App from its stores. The Indian government had ordered for removal of TIKTOK APP from stores after the Supreme Court Order. Now, in future the Chinese video app TikTok is no longer available in Google and Apple app stores in India
According to the App analytics firm Sensor Tower estimates TikTok was downloaded 36 million times from the Google Play Store worldwide in March. In India, it’s reported to have total over 240 million downloads across the span of its existence up to February. Almost 500 million users are using TikTok worldwide.
In view of Madras High Court decision, the people who have downloaded TIKTOK before April may use this app, but after that nobody can download or access TikTok in India. The Indian Supreme Court had ordered the government that video creating application is spreading pornography in the country two days before hearing a petition filed against the ban on TikTok. Therefore, the order of Madras High Court should be implemented.
The court also said in its remarks that India’s national security threatens with TikTok, a new generation is increasingly going astray. According to the court, through the TikTok App, children who are young and especially minor are making irrelevant and vulgar videos, therefore video creating app must be banned in India to safe the country.
